Here’s an interesting claim for you: we’re now exposed to as much information in a single day that someone in the 15th century would encounter in their entire lifetime.
Now, as a data controller or processor, imagine how much data you accrue over your customers’ or clients’ lifetimes.
GDPR requires companies to have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to ensure that data protection is built into their processing activities and business practices.
It’s now a legal requirement to consider data protection and privacy issues upfront in everything you do to help ensure both compliance and accountability. This can include data protection policies, employee training, data protection impact assessments and a register mapping data flows into and out off the business. Where are you on your journey to compliance?
Our workshop will focus on the practical steps an SME can take:
- to inform individuals about the personal data that is processed by the business and why
- to handle an ICO complaint letter
- how to respond to a subject access request from an unhappy member or staff/customer
- when a data breach happens (for example an email with payroll information is sent to the wrong payroll provider) what should you do, who needs to be involved and
We appreciate that this can be quite overwhelming and you may be uncertain as to how this applies to your business. It is our belief that is better to be proactive than reactive, as all of the above could happen to you.
At the end of the workshop you will walk away with processes that you can implement immediately, helping your business evidence how it is accountable.
